Renta

Tax filing obligations for residents of Spain

The annual income tax return to file for residents is known as Renta, and the tax is Impuesto sobre la Renta de las Personas Fisicas (IRPF).

The Spanish tax year ends on 31st December. Income tax returns for the year 2023 must be filed by the 30th June 2024. Returns can be filed online from early-mid April onwards.

Taxpayers are obliged to declare their Spanish and worldwide income, and we will apply the provisions of the relevant double taxation treaties to mitigate the double payment of tax.

2.

Tax payment

The Spanish Tax Office, Agencia Tributaria, offers the possibility of payment of your tax in two instalments, the first by 30th June and the second by the beginning of November. There is no interest or penalty charge payable if you take this option.

Your tax payments can be made by direct debit, which saves you the inconvenience of having to queue at your bank during the busy period. In order to qualify for this, the return must be filed online by 25th June.

Our services

Our standard charge, before VAT, to prepare and file online your annual income tax return, is 195 Euros for a single person or 263 Euros for a married couple/ family. A reduced charge may apply in certain cases, which we will be happy to discuss on an individual basis.

If you would like to use our service, please contact us via our contact form or directly by e-mail. We will then send you a specially designed income tax questionnaire to complete. This is in spreadsheet format: if you do not have Excel, there are very good free equivalents available such as Open Office.
